So I'm not going to tell anyone to get on Facebook or any other social media app and start buying third hand items just to promote bitcoin. However from time to time you get on these groups and find some really neat stuff. Just as you would going to an estate sale or general flea market yard sale.
Lately on my local groups I've seen people selling gold and semi rare coins, Electronics that will stand to last a few more years and of-course cars and ATVs.
90% of the adoption issues in my area of crypto come from the lack of individuals being able to get a hold of the stuff. I live in a semi rural area but unlike most "Small" towns the people are progressive enough they don't see Crypto as some end times mark of the best nonsense.
Now this may seem like a good story and it may not work in the benefit of both parties every time. But so far so good and it's been in the delivery.
I recently contacted a local that was selling gold straight out of the forge. It actually ended up being an old timer and his grand kids who where actually selling. I just ended up asking "Do you take Cryptocurrency? I was surprised to see that the answer was "No…But we are interested in it because we know about it"
I ended up explaining the stuff, wallets, the transaction system, exchanges the works. I explained the web of trust system and how the deep community is concerning scammers and the shady types.
Needless to the the Grandfather liked the rouge behavior of the community and so much so he ended up putting his family to work selling this gold online for crypto. I ended up doing a trade and he even threw a few extra grams in the deal for my time.
Now whereas most of this happened in private one on one contact. When i first approached them it was public. I continue to approach others along with them seeing that a previous deal was met with success in sell via Crypto. And i can say with happiness that its catching on… Slowly but it is catching,
It is my hope that even if 30 of the regular users on the site get started that they will then go into the wild with it and ask local business interests if they will accept it. So far only 3 people are disinterested in it enough NOT to use it directly and instead choose to cash out for Dollars at the exchange.
I suggest if you have time for something like this you give it a shot in your area. That is if you don't already 🙂
