…it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the hashrate bands which have connected them to another…

The time has come to change the Proof-of-Work function, readjust difficulty, institute replay protection, and deploy SegWit.

Those of us who would like to have SegWit implemented, and implemented in such a way that covert ASICboost is rendered obsolete, should realise that our views are incompatible with the hashrate majority of the ecosystem. BIP148 is the wrong way to go about effecting a change as it will, if successful, force a change upon those miners, nodes, and users who prefer other routes in developing the ecosystem. We have no such right, just as the current hashrate majority has no right to deny us the pursuit of what we believe to be most compatible with our interests. This split doesn’t have to be dramatic. Each user who at the time of the hard fork holds any bitcoins will, post fork, hold coins on both chains and be free to act in their own interests with regards to managing their holdings whether this means selling one, both, or doubling down by exchanging one for the other.
